5-star DE Bryce Langston commits to Florida

The Florida Gators have hit a bit of a hot streak as of late with top tier talent just outside of the Gainesville city limits. On Sunday afternoon, the Gators reeled in yet another local big fish when Ocala (Fla.) Vanguard five-star 2021 defensive end Bryce Langston committed to the Gators. Regardless of recruiting class, this is the first five-star commitment for Dan Mullen since his arrival to Florida last year.

“I feel like it’s going to be a good team for a long time and I feel like I fit really well into that program. I really like the defense and the way they played this season from when I watched them. I see myself fitting really well into the program and the defense. I like how Jachai Polite has been really good this season for them so, maybe they can do that with me.”

The 6-foot-3, 212-pounder committed to the Gators over early offers from the Arkansas Razorbacks, Cincinnati Bearcats, Florida A&M Rattlers, Florida State Seminoles, Kentucky Wildcats, Miami Hurricanes, Nebraska Cornhuskers, and Tennessee Volunteers.

Langston is commitment No. 4 for the Gators 2021 recruiting class, which has gotten off to a quick start since last month. Langston joins four-star wide receiver Trevonte Rucker, four-star athlete Kamar Wilcoxson, and unranked offensive tackle George Jackson. While it may be early in 2021 rankings, this commitment gives the Gators the No. 1 ranked recruiting class in the SEC.

Langston’s main recruiter from UF was area recruiter and linebackers coach Christian Robinson, who has been instrumental in the Gators landing multiple top recruits in the Ocala region of the state.

“Me and Coach Robinson have been really close. I think he was a big part in the linebackers looking better this season. He is a big part in making the team better.”

Langston joins local prospects from the 2019, 2020, and 2021 recruits class that have made recent commitments to Florida. What is it about the Gators now under Mullen that has them so willing to jump on board this early?

“It’s just the best fit for all of us and we really think that from seeing how things have changed and how the coaches and the staff is.”

247Sports currently ranks Langston as the Nation’s No. 4 overall prospect in the 2021 recruiting class and No. 1 recruit in the state of Florida for the 2021 recruiting class.
