Five-star shooting guard Anthony Edwards has announced a top 8 including the UNC Basketball program
Just a week after he announced plans to reclassify to the 2019 class, five-star shooting guard Anthony Edwards is ready to trim his list.
The new 2019 recruit revealed that he has a top 8 list of programs and is trimming his list to that. In Edwards’ top 8 are North Carolina, Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, UCLA, Michigan State, Florida State and Georgia.
Edwards told 247 Sports recruiting analyst Evan Daniels that he will begin setting up official visits to five of those programs in the near future.
Of those eight schools he listed, all but one school has offered him. Duke is the lone exception as they have entered his recruitment later than other schools.
UNC has been involved with Edwards for months now, making him one of their top priorities in the 2020 class. But with his reclassification to 2019 and UNC’s need for a wing in the class, he becomes a very important recruit for head coach Roy Williams.
The news of a final eight is also a little interesting.
There was a report that Edwards had a top 5 list with the Florida State Seminoles as the heavy favorites. But things have now changed with few new blue blood programs getting involved.
Edwards is the No. 4 prospect in the 2019 recruiting class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings and the No. 1 shooting guard in the class. With some decisions to make in terms of what schools to take an official visit too, his recruitment should start to get interesting very soon.
