TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) — A man accused of posting a racist picture targeting Florida State University head football coach Willie Taggart has been fired from his job.

The photo, which was posted to Facebook after the Seminoles’ loss against Florida, depicted a man hanging from a noose with coach Taggart’s face photoshopped over the victim’s head. The man posted the picture with the caption, “#JustDoIt” and “#FireTaggart.”

The man accused of posting the image was terminated from his job at Hilton Grand Vacations after the company was made aware of the photo. A spokesperson for Hilton Grand Vacations provided WCTV with the following statement:

“Our concern regarding this situation has been a top priority. The person responsible for posting this information has been terminated. His behavior was in violation of multiple company policies and the furthest example from being a reflection of our company’s values.”

FSU President John Thrasher condemned the post, saying, “I love Willie Taggart, and we’re going to make sure we wrap our arms around him and make sure he understands we care about him at Florida State University.”

State Attorney Jack Campbell opened an investigation shortly after the image began to circulate, but it’s not clear if the post can be considered a criminal act.

“We’re having to take a hard look at that right now,” said Campbell. “Right now, it’s an active criminal investigation.”

Both the Florida State Police Department and the Leon County Sheriff’s Officer are also investigating.

“Coach Taggart is a husband, a father. He deserves the protections of the full force of this office,” said Campbell.
