Florida State football, recruiting news: The Chase 2019 begins

Recruiting:

Déjà vu? A five star shooting guard prospect spurns the ’Noles…for Georgia? The Bulldogs are 10-13, 1-9 in the SEC, and 114th in the latest NET Rankings.

Former five star offensive tackle Calvin Ashley enters the transfer portal.

Recruiting is an ever changing game, and transfer waivers are here to stay.

Football:

Former FSU linebacker Zaquandre White received an offer from Arkansas and could soon be back playing FBS football.

Other Sports:

Led by sensational play from Mfiondu Kabengele, who got a cover shot on Fox Sports, FSU Men’s Basketball does some leapfrogging in the AP and Coaches Polls. The Seminoles will be at home on Wednesday when they take on Wake Forest. Selection Sunday is looming: are the ’Noles a lock?

The Women’s Basketball team will travel to play Clemson on Thursday.

FSU’s Beach Volleyball is ranked in the top five before their season serves off:

Riding high after their Sea Best Invitational win, the Men’s Golf team is looking to repeat at the Mobile Sports Intercollegiate. FSU leads after the first day and the tournament wraps up today.

The Florida State swimming and diving teams closed out the Auburn Invite last Sunday with three top three finishes and more career bests. Up next, the ACC Championships.

Not to be outdone, but the Track and Field team also posted some personal bests.

The Women’s Tennis team swept their opponent and have shutout their opponent in five of seven matches this season.

Alumni:

Former FSU quarterback Jameis Winston had some hard conversations with his new head coach Bruce Arians.

Academics:

FSU researchers from the school’s High Performance Materials Institute developed a foam that was incorporated into a brace that FSU athletes have been wearing. It has also seen commercial success.
