CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Manny Diaz has hired a fellow Florida State graduate to join his workers.
Diaz announced Tuesday that veteran college or university football coach Todd Stroud has been hired as assistant head coach and defensive line coach.
Stroud replaces Jess Simpson, who resigned to get a coaching posture in the NFL.
“We are excited to welcome Todd to ‘The U,'” Diaz said in a statement. “As we have built this workers, we have emphasised continuity on the defensive aspect of the ball. Todd is a large-strength instructor and motivator whose defensive philosophy aligns completely with ours. Stroud has coached at 9 educational facilities in his 33-12 months coaching job, most lately at Akron. He invested the previous 7 seasons with the Zips, including 2018 as affiliate head coach and defensive coordinator.
He has also coached at Auburn, Colorado State, North Carolina State and Florida State, his alma mater.
“Todd’s different background as a head coach, coordinator, posture coach, energy coach and recruiter also gives him a distinctive, overarching viewpoint,” Diaz said. “We are lucky to have somebody with his awareness, working experience and character join our system.”
Stroud performed nose guard for the Seminoles under former legendary head coach Bobby Bowden from 1983-85 and was crew captain his senior time.
Diaz also graduated from Florida State.
