FSU basketball rises in bracketology projections

The No. 15 Florida State basketball program is enjoying a fine start to the 2018-2019 season, off to a 6-1 start with heart-stopping victories over LSU and Purdue. And members of the national media have taken notice.

After opening the season projected as a 5-seed in an NCAA Tournament bracket from ESPN’s Joe Lunardi, the Seminoles have now improved to a 3-seed in the Midwest Region. Lunardi has the ’Noles opening play against 14-seed Northeastern in Hartford; it would be a de facto home game for the Huskies, who are based in Boston, less than two hours away.

FSU’s next game would be against the winner of 6-seed Buffalo and a play-in game between 11-seeds Minnesota and Oklahoma. Florida State’s Sweet 16 matchup would most likely be 2-seed Nevada— but some upsets could have the 10-seed Florida Gators there, provided they make the tourney at all. Presently, UF is one of Lunardi’s final teams in.
