Two top Penn State Class of 2019 recruits have set their decision timelines.
Three-star Germany defensive lineman Joseph Darkwa will let the college of his choice know it on Friday, his coach, Brandon Collier, told PennLive on Tuesday. It’s likely that he’ll wait until a week until National Signing Day on Feb. 6, to make his decision public, though.
Rutgers, UCLA, Georgia Tech, and Colorado are among his finalist along with the Lions. The 6-foot-5, 272-pound prospect officially visited Penn State last weekend.
According to Collier, Darkwa grew up playing soccer but transitioned to football four years ago, and he’s quickly learned the game, which is why so many coaches are interested along with his moldable frame as a future end.
“Joseph has gained over 50 pounds in the last 2 years and has actually gotten quicker,” Collier said.
“Any time a kid is 6-5, 272 pounds with his twitch and movement skills, they are playing at high levels.”
Darkwa isn’t the only Lions target eyeing a Signing Day decision, as four-star Maryland safety and Florida State commit Nick Cross shared on Twitter Tuesday that he will pick between Florida State, which he is committed to, Penn State, Georgia, and Maryland next Wednesday.
Cross is set to visit University Park on an official visit this weekend, and it will offer the Lions their best chance at flipping him from the Seminoles. The safety has been committed to FSU since September and last visited Penn State in June.
