Woolfolk scores 22 as No. 24 Florida St defeats No. 9 NC St

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Florida State experienced to swap five senior starters this season and the growing pains were being usually apparent. A younger group appreciated its greatest results on Thursday night.

Nausia Woolfolk scored 22 factors and No. 24 Florida State scored 10 straight factors late in the fourth quarter to knock off No. 9 North Carolina State 75-70.

Woolfolk tied a vocation large with five 3-ideas. Nicki Ekhomu included 18 factors as the Seminoles (20-3, 8-2 ACC) shot 55 p.c from the ground in the 2nd 50 %.

Ekhomu iced the gain by building a pair of no cost throws with 17 seconds still left. The Seminoles secured a seventh straight 20-gain season.

“It can be a massive milestone,” Florida State coach Sue Semrau reported. “Just one we want to accept and transfer on from. I imagine now we have much a lot more to do but possessing accomplished that normally takes a little bit of a pounds off us.”

Semrau has leaned on a pair of juniors, Woolfolk and Ekhomu, to guide a younger group as a result of the season. Florida State also been given a raise from transfer forward Kiah Gillespie, who sat out 2017-18 but has been just one of the ACC’s best players this yr. Gillespie experienced nine factors and four rebounds on Thursday.

There have been doubts about this group. Depth has been a problem, especially soon after Florida State lost 3 players to season-ending accidents, restricting the rotation to eight players.

But the Seminoles have revealed their resiliency. They do not truly feel the gain above the Wolfpack was a statement but does encourage them to see what they can achieve in the ultimate month of the ACC season.
